Frances Abbott reveals her strict bodybuilding diet

She recently competed in two bodybuilding events in Melbourne, showcasing a ripped physique that many bikini models would be proud of.

But ex Prime Minister, Tony Abbott’s daughter, Frances’, new body didn’t come without hard work.

The 26-year-old revealed that her new competition-ready figure was the product of months of counting calories and weighing out her food portions.

She also said she had to become ‘a bit of a social recluse’ in order to drop the kilos.

‘So there has been some interest in what I was eating during my competition preparation,’ Frances posted on herInstagram page on Tuesday night.

Frances Abbott’s bikini body secrets

* Frances has been counting her macronutrients – the exact amount of carbs, protein and fat in her food.

* She followed a high protein diet with lots of vegetables devised by a Richmond personal trainer.

* Frances also eliminated all processed foods, alcohol, sugar, carbs and dairy.

* She weighed out her food portions.

* The 26-year-old rose at 4.15am most days in order to do fasted cardio.

 * She did between 20 and 40 minutes on a treadmill or bike, followed by an hour of weights each day.

* She went through a ‘shedding’ face in order to be bikini ready.

‘I have had a number of people ask me to tell them exactly what I eat “down to every last mouthful”.

‘I am happy to tell you exactly what I have eaten, I am happy to tell you exactly how I have trained and I am also happy to tell you that even if you do exactly what I did, getting the exact same results is not guaranteed.

‘I weighed my food meal by meal for around three months, I woke at 4.15am most mornings to do fasted cardio and I also had to become a bit of a social recluse to get the results I achieved in the amount of time that I had.

‘Was it easy? No. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Definitely, but give myself more time. And go in with more understanding. I was eating and training like an athlete to compete in a competition.

‘Not just to drop a few kgs “to get ready for summer”.

‘The challenge I now face is almost as serious as the one I was preparing for… reverse dieting and training in a way that will help me put weight back on with out me getting stuck in my head about putting on weight.’

To get in shape, she did between 20 and 40 minutes on a treadmill or bike, followed by an hour of weights (pictured working out)

Speaking to Courier Mail, Frances also admitted: ‘I just really wanted to eat an apple’.

She explained that she has been rigidly counting her ‘macros’ or macronutrients – the exact amount of carbohydrate, protein and fat in her food.

Instead, she stuck to a high protein diet with lots of vegetables. The diet was devised by a fellow PT in her hometown of Richmond.

‘I’ve been weighing my food for the past three months, I want to go out and have a red wine and just experience life,’ the 26-year-old explained.

She also said that last weekend, she enjoyed a Hawaiian poke bowl [a rice dish with fish and vegetables].

Frances later shared a snap of her enjoying the dish on Instagram with her 7,000 followers, captioning the post with: ‘DONE.

In a recent Instagram post, Frances also detailed exactly what she is having for lunch now:

‘Very similar to what I had in comp prep in terms of macros/calories… Just with a little bit more love and colour.

‘Greens and baby spinach. Pumpkin. Tomato (CARBS) Chicken (PROTEIN) Avocado. A dollop of Vegan Red Hummus. (FAT) Pepper. And that’s it. Good, clean, simple food.’
