Chelsea manager Frank Lampard believes Carlo Ancelotti can coach ‘anywhere in the world’ after the Italian was sacked as Napoli boss on Tuesday night. 

Ancelotti was shown the door despite a 4-0 victory against Genk in the Champions League on Tuesday which saw the Serie A side through to the knockout stages. 

Tension at the club had been brewing for months but Italian coach Ancelotti – who has already been linked with the vacant posts at Arsenal and Everton – can work anywhere, according to Lampard.

‘I have huge respect for him, I am very sorry for him,’ sad Lampard, who played under Ancelotti at Chelsea for two years between 2009 and 2011.  

‘I know it was a tough job for him lately. I saw his interview before the game and I thought it was a very typically classy interview in what seemed a very tough time for him. He always handles himself brilliantly.

‘I think he can work anywhere in the world at the top level, of course.’
