Fraser Lamplough arrested after allegedly running across roofs in Bali

An Australian tourist is being held in a Bali hospital psych ward after he allegedly darted across building tops in a drunken rage.

Fraser Lamplough, 26, had his hands tied behind his back in a citizen’s arrest on Monday in Kerokan near Kuta after locals said they saw him walking across the roofs.

The shirtless man was then pushed into the back of a police truck and taken to North Kuta Police station.

The 26-year-old sustained injuries to his foot and was taken to Sanglah hospital where he remains under police guard.

North Kuta police chief, Gede Putu Dewa Anom Danujaya said the Australian was ‘raging’ when they arrived at the police station.

‘He was treated by a psychiatric doctor and three hospital security were required. He was given a sedative,’ Gede said, 7 News reported.

‘When he calmed down the doctor team started to question him. He told the doctor that he doesn’t know why he climbed onto the roof. He can’t remember.’

Luh Keni had been at her home when she watched the incident unfold.

‘When I was taking the trash to the rooftop area, suddenly he was there. I was extremely shocked. Then he went to the back of the villa, jumping from one roof to another,’ Luh said.

His arrest comes four days after Sunshine Coast man Zac Whiting, 18, was accused of allegedly bashing a security guard outside a Burger King in Kuta on Friday morning.

The cabinetmaker is accused of punching security guard Adni Junus Liu twice in the face over a lost phone.

Mr Junus Liu suffered a severe gash above his eye and had to receive stitches.

Whiting, who is facing three years behind bars for the alleged incident, has expressed deep remorse over his actions.

Schapelle Corby’s former security consultant John McLeod issued a statement on Whiting’s behalf on Monday, saying his client was ‘young and has made a silly mistake’.

‘Zac is struggling with the circumstances he is in,’ the statement read.

‘He has reflected on his actions of early Friday morning and is filled with self-disgust by his behaviour as well as by his self-inflicted situation.

‘He is just a kid who has made a huge mistake … and is very remorseful for his night on the drink.’

Mr McLeod said Whiting, who was reportedly in Bali for schoolies celebrations, was negotiating a peace agreement with Mr Liu.

A peace agreement usually involves compensating the victim and could see Whiting released from custody within days.

‘Whether or not a peace agreement can be agreed upon, he genuinely and wholeheartedly wishes to apologise to Mr Liu,’ he said.

‘He is embarrassed and ashamed of his behaviour and wants to apologise to the Indonesian people for disrespecting their culture and laws.’

Mr Junus Liu told Seven News that he was outside the Burger King when Whiting and his friends approached him.

‘They challenged me to a fight. I didn’t give any response. I just tried to push them out. I tried to talk to them politely. I ask them to forgive me,’ he alleged.

He said the group returned a short time later and allegedly set upon him.

‘One of them had pushed me. I tried to control myself. I ask them to forgive me,’ he said.
