  • Burger Project will be offering free cheese burgers for International Burger Day
  • This year’s International Burger Day is on Tuesday, May 28 across the world
  • Burger Project will offer 500 cheese burgers for lucky customers
  • McDonald’s is offering 250,000 free Quarter Pounders

Burger chains across the country will be giving away free meals to mark International Burger Day on Tuesday, but there’s a catch.

Burger Project is offering customers one of its famous Classic Cheese burgers for one hour from 11am on Tuesday, first come first serve.

The catch is there will only be 50 burgers available at each of its locations in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Burger Project founder Neil Perry told The Courier Mail the Classic Cheese Burger was more than just the basic meat and cheese creation offered elsewhere.

‘International Burger Day is synonymous with free burgers and good deals, but nowhere else will diners find a freebie built with such exceptional, premium produce,’ he told the publication.

‘Our new Classic Cheese is a more classic American style burger.

‘This International Burger Day we will have our best burger builders armed and at the ready, so we do the humble burger proud on the most delicious day of the year.’

Global powerhouse McDonald’s is also getting in on the International Burger Day craze by offering a staggering 250,000 Quarter Pounders to its Australian customers.

McDonald’s Australia vice president of operations Sharon Paz said it was the perfect time to offer the free burger’s after the chain recently updated its cooking method.

Beef will now be cooked for exactly 40 seconds on the grill to ensure the meat is the ‘juiciest patty our customers have ever had’.

An extra dollop of special sauce will also be added to Big Mac burgers, while onions will be cooked on the grill together with patties.

Ms Paz said the changes to the McDonald’s menu had been developed over 18 months, and will be introduced in Australia first before being brought in worldwide.

Burger buns will be hotter when they are served, and Ms Paz said the company had also changed the distribution of sesame seeds on top.

Punters can devour the hotter, juicier and tastier Quarter Pounders by logging on to the mymacca’s app.

Customers looking to pick-up a free Quarter Pounder just need to log into the mymacca’s app and check their My Rewards.

The mymacca’s app is available for download on iOS via the Apple

App Store and Android via Google Play.
