Police in France have foiled a suspected terror attack and arrested two brothers of Egyptian origin, authorities in the country have said.
Ricin or explosives are thought to have been used in the attack, according to French Interior Minister Gerard Collomb.
‘There were two young people of Egyptian origin who were preparing to commit an attack, with either explosives or ricin, this very powerful poison,’ he said on BFMTV.
Mr Collomb told BFM television Friday the men were of Egyptian origin but didn’t indicate their nationality or provide other details about their arrest.
He said the authorities were tracking extremist activity on social networks and identified two young men ‘preparing to commit an attack with explosives or ricin.’
They are said to have watched tutorials on how to make poison using ricin.
The announcement came days after an Islamic extremist stabbed five people in the heart of Paris.
A string of deadly attack in recent years has kept the country on edge.
