Frenkie de Jong has been filmed arriving at Barcelona airport with only days remaining in the transfer window.
The Dutchman has been at the centre of much speculation this summer with Barcelona open to selling the midfielder to raise funds to revamp Xavi Hernandez’s squad amid dire financial straits for the club.
Manchester United have pursued the midfielder for much of the summer with the former Ajax midfielder’s ex-boss Erik ten Hag remaining an admirer of the player from their days in Amsterdam together.

Chelsea, on the hunt for a midfielder as Thomas Tuchel looks to rebuild his squad under the new owners led by Todd Boehly, have also expressed significant interest in the player this window.
With De Jong having been filmed by late-night Spanish football talk show El Chiringuito arriving at the airport for a flight to London only days out from the end of the window, speculation has been afoot that the midfielder might finally be joining a Premier League side.
However, talk that this is him flying in to secure his move to United after an elongated summer saga has been quashed with the club saying that they are not signing him this summer.

Following the arrivals of Antony and Martin Dubravka, United are expected to have completed their business for this summer.
Indeed, De Jong’s Holland and Barcelona team-mate Memphis Depay is also in the UK with Xavi’s squad having been awarded a few days off following a stellar start to their La Liga campaign.
It is believed the two are over in the UK for a wedding.
De Jong and Depay were both substitutes in Sunday evening’s 4-0 win over Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou.
Goals from Robert Lewandowski, Pedri and Sergi Roberto ensured a comfortable evening for the Catalan outfit as they went within two points of Real Betis at the summit of the table.
