KAREN MILLEN X ROYAL ASCOT

If, like me, the only race you’ve experienced was at school sports day and the thought of a dress code sends you into a meltdown, Karen Millen’s official Ascot collection could be your new best friend. KM is now a one-stop shop for all things Ascot, with hem lengths that tick the boxes, plus hats and fascinators to match. karenmillen.com

TRUTH & FABLE AT AMAZON

Refusing to stop at just one successful in-house line (check out Find for on-trend midi-dresses and trench coats), the superstore has launched Truth & Fable for your occasionwear needs. Although not technically ‘high street’, the prices beat even H&M (without the stressful shopping trip). I’ve ordered a white suit for smarter summer events and will be throwing the blazer over dresses as the perfect wedding cover-up. amazon.co.uk

STUDIO BY PREEN AT DEBENHAMS

Hands down the best way to shop designer on the high street. Preen by Thornton Bregazzi is in its seventh year designing a line for Debenhams and it remains on top for flattering dresses and silky blouses in its trademark florals. It proves popular with us fashion folk who want to look the part without paying the pennies. debenhams.com

Drilles are the shoes you didn’t know you needed. After putting them through their paces on the YOU fashion desk, we’re hailing them as the perfect transitional flats: great in spring with bare ankles but before sandals come into play, smarter than trainers and easy to slip on for travelling. Turns out they go with practically everything and you can even buy a matching pair for your man. We’ll take one in every colour, thank you!

THIS WEEK I’M BUYING…

WORTH THE SPLURGE                                             HIGH-STREET STEAL

This from the new It-bag brand Wandler. It’s a great size to use every day and I’m obsessed with the sage green. So it’s worth a splurge.

For a high-street steal, I’ll be snapping up these resin earrings from Next – the perfect pastel pair for spring.

WHAT TO WEAR TO…LONDON CRAFT WEEK

If you love getting crafty, 9-13 May is the time to visit the capital, with events including leatherwork demonstrations at The Cambridge Satchel Company, calligraphy with Anya Hindmarch and ceramic painting at The Conran Shop. While in town don’t miss the major new Tate Modern exhibition Shape of Light: 100 Years of Photography and Abstract Art, opening on Wednesday.
