Frozen 2 freezes out the competition as it banks $350 million worldwide and makes history as the largest day-and-date global animation debut

It was the highly anticipated Disney sequel. 

And Frozen 2 has officially iced out its competition, leading the box office on its opening weekend.

The animated film managed to pull in $127 million in North America and made history as the largest day-and-date global animation debut in history with $350 million worlwide, according to Variety.

Frozen 2 has officially had the third-best opening weekend for an animated film. 

It comes behind, Finding Dory ($135 million), and The Incredibles 2 ($182 million). 

However, when not including Pixar (which Finding Dory and The Incredibles 2 is part of), Frozen 2 is Walt Disney Animation’s biggest opening weekend.

The film starring Kristen Bell, 39, and Idina Menzel, 48, has also been named as the first Walt Disney Animation movie to have brought in triple figures outside of a summer weekend.  

Frozen 2 was played in 4,440 theaters domestically and performed above expectations ahead of the lucrative holiday frame. 

The first Frozen launched before Thanksgiving in 2013 and racked in $93 million during the first five days.

The original went on to become the certified highest-grossing animate movie in history with $1.3 billion globally.  

Following Frozen 2 at the box office was Ford v Ferrari, with an estimated $16 million.

The film follows the true story of how a team of Ford build a car to challenge Ferrari’s longtime dominance of Franc’s classic 24-hour Le Mans race.  

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood came in third on $13.5 million. The Sony release follows journalists drama with beloved television star, Fred Rogers – played by Tom Hanks. 

Charlie’s Angels came in at eighth place following miserable $3 million debut last weekend.
