Frozen II sets new record as the highest-grossing animated film ever at $1.325BILLION
The Disney juggernaut has kicked off the new year in grand fashion.
Frozen II is now the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
The sequel to the 2013 mega-hit from Walt Disney has now made $1.325 billion at the global box office since its premiere at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on November 7, 2019, and its wide release on November 22.

With the latest box office numbers, Frozen II has surpassed the first Frozen which made $1.281 million, and Incredibles 2 that brought in $1.243 million.
Jon Favreau’s 2019 hit The Lion King has grossed about $1.65 billion, but Disney considers it a live-action remake, not an animation, even though it was it entirely computer generated.
At this point, Frozen II is the third biggest movie of 2019, bested only by two other Disney films: Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) and The Lion King ($1.65 billion).

Kristen Bell (Princess Anna) and Idina Menzel (Queen Elsa) reprised their leading voice roles in the follow-up.
In it, the gang of characters embark on a new journey that goes beyond their homeland of Arendelle, only this time Anna joins Elsa for the adventure.
Josh Gad, Jonathan Groff and Santino Fontana also return for a second installment, while new castmembers include Evan Rachel Wood and Sterling K. Brown.

To put things into perspective: Frozen II took about three weeks to pass the $1billion mark, while the original movie needed 15 weeks to hit the major milestone.
The other six Disney movies to top a billion dollars in 2019 include Captain Marvel, Aladdin, The Lion King, Avengers: Endgame and Toy Story 4.
In early December, Disney announced that it had sold more than $10 billion in worldwide ticket sales this year.
