Furious internet debate erupts over BACON packaging

Internet users have entered a massive debate about the packaging of bacon after one woman dubbed it the ‘worst thing to ever exist’ because it wasn’t able to be-released sparking others bacon-lovers to chime in and express their outrage.

Kat Thomas, from Los Angeles, California, said what everyone has been thinking for years when she lodged a complaint against bacon packaging – specifically Oscar Mayer bacon packaging – because once she opened the wrapping, she had no choice but to either use every piece or store it somewhere else.

And when she declared that she was ‘sick and tired’ of the ‘inconvenience’ that comes with the packaging of bacon, her words resonated across the web and sparked a raging conversation about the beloved breakfast food.

In a viral video, which has amassed over 300,000 views, captioned ‘Bacon packaging is the worst thing to ever exist,’ the marketing consultant shared her frustrations.

‘This is a message for Oscar Mayer because now we got beef.  I’m sick and tired of every time I buy bacon, I have to be inconvenienced with y’all packaging.

‘Why is it so hard for you to put a zipper on the packaging so I can reseal it when I’m done.

‘I’m not going to make the whole pack. I don’t have a family of 16,’ she said before adding that it was only her and her dog so she only needed ‘two pieces’ of bacon.

After noting that once opened the package can’t be resealed, Kat adds that her bacon is now ‘exposed to the elements’ and is at ‘risk of getting hard and crunchy.’

‘Now I gotta get a Ziploc bag and I gotta put my bacon in a Ziploc bag to keep it safe.’ she said before diving into the price of the breakfast food.

Speaking to Today, Kat revealed she decided to voice her frustrations to her over  28,000 followers because she realized she didn’t have any Ziploc bags when she was about to cook her breakfast in the morning.

She then realized that ‘something had to be said’ and decided to ‘put a message out to Oscar Mayer’ in an attempt of convincing them to ‘change the packaging.’

Oscar Mayer has yet to address the demands of bacons lovers across the globe, however spokespeople for big bacon makers Smithfield and Applegate shasred their thoughts to Today.

Jim Monroe, vice president of corporate affairs for Smithfield, noted that people are ‘passionate about bacon,’ adding that the company is continuously striving to ‘enhance packaging.’

Monroe added that they were even ‘preparing to rollout an easier to open format’ and will do their best to listen to the needs of their customers to give them the ‘best bacon experience possible.’

Meanwhile, Gina Gancheva, director of brand management at Applegate noted that the company didn’t see a need for a resealable feature because their consumers cook the bacon ‘in one cook session’ due to their bacon being sold in smaller packages.
