Furious tradie caught on camera laying into a taxi driver with a barrage of punches in Sydney’s CBD

A tradesman has been caught on camera repeatedly punching a taxi driver while hurling abuse at him during a violent road rage attack.

Shocked onlookers rushed to break up the brawl, which broke out in the middle of Sydney’s George Street during peak-hour afternoon traffic on Monday.

The tradesman, understood to be employed by a Sydney concrete cutting business,  unleashed a barrage of punches on the taxi driver through his window.

Witnesses say the concreter claimed the taxi driver was trying to run him over.

Footage of the violent spat of road rage, obtained by Seven News, shows the tradesman reaching through the taxi to strike the driver.

He can be counted throwing 19 punches in the video, although bystanders say he was also jumping up and down on the bonnet of the car before the footage began.

The taxi driver unsuccessfully attempts to defend himself, getting punched a couple more times after getting out of his car.

Onlookers rushed into the scene from every direction to try and pull the attacker off the man, who eventually stormed off.

Witnesses of the fight say that the man was accusing the taxi driver of trying to run him over, and was jumping up and down on his bonnet before the footage begins
