FWAW: Samantha Armytage reveals her surprising guilty pleasure food

Samantha Armytage reveals her surprising guilty pleasure food – as she admits: ‘I’m sure it’s not good for you’

Sam Armytage has revealed her biggest ‘guilty pleasure’ when it comes to food.

The former Sunrise anchor, 46, said she loves processed cheese slices, which she acknowledges aren’t very healthy so tries to limit how many she eats.

When asked what her culinary ‘guilty pleasure’ is, the new Farmer Wants a Wife host told The Australian Women’s Weekly: ‘Those cheese singles wrapped in plastic.

‘I call them plastic cheese and they are! I try not to eat them often, as I’m sure they’re not very good for you.’

Elsewhere in the interview, the Channel Seven star said her biggest achievement in life was ‘rolling the dice and choosing happiness and peace over a big job’.

This was a reference to how she quit her high-profile hosting role on Sunrise in March 2021 and moved to the country with her husband  Richard Lavender.

Despite stepping down from the top-rating breakfast show, Sam has stayed at Seven and was recently announced as the new presenter of Farmer Wants a Wife.

The network confirmed last month she will be taking over the role made famous by Natalie Gruzlewski, who will remain part of the series as a ‘co-host’.

Samantha had joined the dating show as a ‘guest host’ last year, but her minor role has now been expanded while Natalie is ‘scaling back’ her duties.

Brook Hall, Seven’s director of scheduling, told TV Tonight: ‘They’re both in the show still. [Previously] Nat was front and centre and Sam was advising on dates.

‘But if I’m being honest, they’ve kind of slightly flipped. Nat has “Nat’s Getaway” so she’ll be co-host, she’ll be opening the start. It’s more blended, with one front and one appearing. But yes, Samantha Armytage is taking more centre stage.’

The new season of FWAW is due to premiere on Seven on April 10. It will feature five farmers looking for love: Brad, 32, David, 29, Brenton, 26, Matt, 23, and Andrew, 41.

Samantha joined the show last year to assist Natalie with the matchmaking process, but it now seems she was just being groomed for the top job.

Her initial guest role involved hosting a segment called ‘Sam’s Choice’, in which she introduced the farmers to a ‘new lady based on her own expertise and experience’.

Natalie hosted Farmer Wants a Wife for its first eight seasons on Nine before she was replaced by Sam McClymont in 2015.

However, she returned as presenter in 2020 when the franchise moved to Seven.
