Gabi Grecko, 32, says her late husband Geoffrey Edelsten, 78, was a ‘capable’ lover

Gabi Grecko has confirmed she did have a sexual relationship with her late husband Geoffrey Edelsten, who died earlier this month at the age of 78.

She told Daily Mail Australia the pair had a strong physical ‘connection’ during their brief marriage, and said she planned to reunite with him before his death on June 11.

Grecko, who was 26 when she wed a 72-year-old Edelsten, said: ‘We slept together, yes. We had our own ways of connecting sexually, and to me it’s more about someone’s personality that makes me sexually attracted to them.’

The American model, 32, married the eccentric millionaire at a Melbourne registry office in June 2015 but they separated months later.

She claims they never legally divorced.

Speaking out: Gabi Grecko has given a raw interview about her relationship with her late ex-husband Geoffrey Edelsten following his death at age 78

‘It was a real relationship – it’s funny how people were so wrong about it,’ added Grecko, who insists she didn’t marry the Allied Medical Group founder for his money.

Her revelation comes just days after Geoffrey’s second wife, Brynne Edelsten, claimed they’d never had sex during their marriage from 2009 to 2014.

‘It wasn’t my decision,’ Brynne told New Idea. ‘In the beginning, I assumed we were waiting for marriage, but then it didn’t happen. I thought maybe it was all the medication he was on… then after so long you kind of forget about it.

‘It was confusing to me, because in a marriage that’s what you do. To this day, I don’t really understand it.’

When asked about Brynne’s admission, Grecko simply replied: ‘Well, he was capable of having sex…’

On June 12 – a day after Edelsten’s death – a leaked email claimed to show he had offered Brynne a $50million ‘deal’ to marry him two weeks after they met.

When asked if she was ever offered a similar contract, Grecko said: ‘No. We had no contract, no prenuptial agreements, nothing. We didn’t have any of that.

‘He did ask me at one time if I wanted to sign a prenup, and I said “What do you think?” He was like, “Okay, never mind.”‘

Speaking fondly of their romance, she added: ‘We had the same type of marriage as anyone else. We fought over things like him watching Carlton [Football Club] instead of paying attention to me, or if I wanted our outfits to be matching.

‘But we’d love watching movies together, and being together – we’d go to JB Hi-Fi every night and buy a movie.

‘He was also obsessed with eating food from gas stations, and I would make him go to organic stores for my food and he didn’t understand why it was so expensive. It was all so normal.’

But she said one of the main things the pair fought about was Grecko’s refusal to change her surname to Edelsten after their marriage.

‘He was upset as he wanted me to take his last name, and I said I wasn’t going to take it if someone else had it,’ Gabi said, referring to how Brynne continued to use her ex-husband’s surname in lieu of her maiden name, Gordon.

‘She could have changed her name. We had a lot of fights about it – it was a wedge in our relationship. People ask why I have such distain for Brynne, it’s like, that was a huge thing in our marriage.

‘She already had enough fame that she could have gone on shows, but she rode the train of being connected to him.’

At the height of his career in 2011, Edelsten was worth a reported $100million.

However, he is believed to have filed for bankruptcy in 2014 when it was reported he had $18.2million in debts.

While he and Brynne held an incredibly lavish $3million wedding at The Crown in Melbourne on November 29, 2009, Edelsten and Grecko married at a humble registry office in Melbourne on June 11, 2015.

Although they separated months later, Grecko claims they remained married until his death. She told Daily Mail Australia she had always planned to reunite with Edelsten.

‘His marriage to Brynne, it just seemed like she was enjoying the lifestyle – we didn’t have that lifestyle,’ she added. ‘We had one car, we had to move into a small apartment – he was not a wealthy man. It was totally different.

‘It’s upsetting as I’m trying to grieve but everyone thinks I’m in it for the money. But we didn’t even have money at the time.

‘It’s not that he didn’t love me if he doesn’t leave me anything. He just only had money when he was with Brynne.’

Grecko said the last time she spoke to Edelsten was in November 2019.

She explained that he wanted her to move back to Australia to be with him, but she wanted to stay in New York City.

‘I said I wanted to stay married, but I wasn’t ready to move back to Australia as the last time I was there it was bad for my mental health,’ she said.

‘I wanted to live here, but he couldn’t afford to live here at the time.

‘The last thing I sent was a text, that said: “I love you very much, but I’ve become a lot mentally healthier since I’ve moved to New York and I don’t want to lose my progress, and I know you’re not able to do that financially.” It was a long text.

‘The only thing he replied was something like: “I’m here and I want this.”

‘He was kind of upset. He always knew with me he was never going to get his way, as I was very stubborn.’

Grecko added that she felt ‘so sad’ when she heard Edelsten had died alone in his Melbourne apartment – coincidentally on their wedding anniversary.

‘I thought he’d be here much longer,’ she said. ‘[His life] was kind of like an open book that didn’t get finished.

‘Because of Covid, my job situation and my mental health, I couldn’t come back to Australia – but I would have eventually.

‘I almost feel responsible, and I know I’m not… I think it was the last straw for him. He’d lost his money, and he didn’t have me anymore. He didn’t have anything to hold onto, and I think he gave up.

‘We left things open. I think he was waiting to hear from me, and he never heard from me.’
