Gabrielle Union set to star in new Screen Gems romantic comedy following an interracial relationship

Fresh off her judging duties on America’s Got Talent and her new show LA’s Finest, Gabrielle Union is returning to the big screen with a new film project.

The 46 year old actress has signed on to star in and produce a currently-untitled romantic comedy for Screen Gems, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The film will be written and directed by Chester Tam, with the story based on an actual romantic relationship he was in.

The official logline is being kept under wraps, but the story is said to explore a drunken one-night stand that somehow evolves into a ‘secret relationship.’

The relationship eventually goes public, surprising both the friends and family of both the newly-single African-American woman (Union) and a recently-divorced Asian-American man.

The relationship surprises the friends and family of both involved because neither is each other’s type.
