Gang Of Youths brings the house down as they perform hits during NRL grand finals pre-game show

They won album of the year at the 2017 Aria awards.

And Gang Of Youths unleashed their hits at the NRL grand finals at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, on Sunday.

The indie rock band lead by front man David Le’aupepe, guitarist Joji Malani, keyboardist Jung Kim, bassist Max Dunn and drummer Donnie Borzestowski put on an energetic performance for the rumbling crowd.

They kicked off their set with What Can I Do If the Fire Goes Out? from their award winning album Go Farther in Lightness.

The Sydney five-piece  followed up with performances of The Heart Is a Muscle.

For their finale, they played The Deepest Sighs and the Frankest Shadows with fireworks shooting up into the air and audiences cheering, ready to watch the game.

Fans watching at home, took to Twitter to excited to see the local band playing for the stadium crowd, one wrote, ‘three years ago, Gang Of Youths played at my pub to less than 200 people.’

‘They were incredible then, and now are playing at a grand final. Unbelievable they are something special.’

‘Gang Of Youths are such a good band. Great choice for the GF (grand final),’ another added.

However there were viewers who were left scratching their heads after being unable to identify the band, with one Tweeting, ‘Who the hell are Gang Of Youths??’

Clearly unimpressed, former AFL star Brendan Fevola tweeted: ‘NRL pre game entertainment,’ along with a thumbs down emoji.

Another said, ‘Can’t say I’ll be rushing off to JB HI FI to get the latest Gang Of Youths CD.’

Gang Of Youths are set to tour the US in October before returning to Australia in November to play 21 sold shows across the country.
