A man has been bashed by youths and his car pelted with rocks and a garden stake in one of three incidents in Adelaide’s southern suburbs overnight police believe are linked.

The man was driving when rocks were thrown at his car so he stopped and approached some youths who then attacked him and hit his car with sticks and rocks about 11.45pm on Saturday.

An ambulance took the man to Noarlunga Hospital with facial injuries, his car was substantially damaged but the youths ran off before police arrived.

Witness Andrew Craigie told Adelaide Now a youth allegedly broke a window with a garden stick and hit a man ‘about nine times’ while he was sitting in the car.

‘When I got to him, he was just covered in blood from head to toe,’ he said.

‘Then he just ran at him and jumped and kicked him in the chest and he fell back.’

Then after midnight a car on the Southern Expressway at Noarlunga Centre drove over some concrete, and when the driver got out to check his car he had rocks thrown at him from an overhead bridge.

Police believe all incidents are connected and are looking for four men and a woman on the run

Soon after, police were called by residents at Hackham West who found youths on the roof of their house.

The two residents were taken to hospital after they confronted the group, who then assaulted them.

Police believe all incidents are connected and are looking for four men and a woman.

Social media users in the area reacted with anger on Sunday morning, fearing for their safety.

‘To anyone who may be driving down the Southern Expressway, please be cautious as those idiots throwing rocks off the bridge are at it again…’, one person said.

Another Facebook user posted to his local MP’s Facebook page asking for help: ‘I and my family do not want me to be injured or killed with this stupid and senseless stupidity.’
