Gary Lineker gets sunburn after snoozing under African sun

He’s the face of Walkers crisps… but Gary Linker’s face has now been burnt to a crisp.

The football legend posted a selfie with the skin on his forehead peeling off from his very red face on Saturday.

The 57-year-old didn’t look too pleased after he fell asleep under the scorching sun while filming in South Africa.

The Match Of The Day pundit, who’s been involved with advertising for snack giant Walkers since 1995, was out in the baking heat to shoot the new ad campaign.

He captioned the snap: ‘Memo to self: Never ever fall asleep again in the African sun’.

The retired footballer took the selfie on his flight home ahead of filming for Match Of The Day this weekend.

He posed in thick-rimmed glasses and a grey sweater.

Earlier in the month, Gary was all smiles in Moscow as he presented the draw for next year’s World Cup,

After initially criticising the decision for the tournament to be held there, the star accepted £20,000 to rub shoulders with the smiling Russian president Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

He proudly posted photos on Instagram of himself in an opulent gold-trimmed dressing room which he joked was ‘like Donald Trump’s lift’.

He also posed for sightseeing photos in Red Square and in front of the Tsar Bell, a huge bronze bell commissioned by a niece of Peter the Great. 

The former England captain even blew out the candles of a cake to mark his 57th birthday, which was presented to him by his Russian hosts. 

The dapper presenter also hosted the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2017 which was won by 10,000m running champion Sir Mo Farah.
