Gary Neville mocks Liverpool with song lyrics about their Champions League final defeat

Gary Neville has rubbed salt in Liverpool’s wounds with a series of song lyrics poking fun at their Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Liverpool suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the Ukrainian capital as their goalkeeper Loris Karius endured a nightmare night by gifting Madrid two goals in a 3-1 loss.

Neville, who has a history of animosity towards Liverpool from his playing days at Manchester United, wished his former team-mate and Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo the best ahead of the match.

Gary Neville (with Liverpool legend and co-pundit Jamie Carragher) tweeted some song lyrics

Liverpool fan DJ Spoony responded on Twitter by saying he would send texts, video messages, tweets and WhatsApps to Neville should Jurgen Klopp’s men emerge victorious.

Neville hit back warning the DJ he would provide him with some new song lyrics to Liverpool’s ‘Allez, Allez, Allez’ chant should they lose.

And true to his word, in the wake of the match the United legend took to Twitter to mock Liverpool for missing out on a sixth European Cup.

‘They thought they’d conquered Europe, Celebrating six, Thank You Gareth Bale, Made them look like d****, The 26th of May, Always in our heart, United won the Treble, The scousers fell apart. Allez Allez Allez,’ Neville tweeted.

The 43-year-old had earlier tweeted that Bale’s first and Madrid’s second goal, a spectacular overhead kick, was perhaps the best goal he’d ever seen.

Neville famously celebrated in front of Liverpool supporters by kissing his badge after United scored a late winner against their rivals back in 2006 and has declared his hatred for the club in the past.

Madrid went ahead when Karim Benzema poked home following Karius’ horrible mistake before Sadio Mane equalised four minutes later.

Bale then scored one of the finest goals in the competition’s history with a wonderful acrobatic volley to put his side 2-1 up before his speculative effort was parried into the net by Karius to seal victory for Madrid.

The result secured Madrid’s third successive Champions League title, their fourth in five seasons and the 13th European Cup in the club’s history.
