- Gary Neville’s tweet with Liverpool in control proved to be correct prediction
- Former Manchester United star wrote ‘3-3 this!’ despite Reds in the lead
- Jurgen Klopp’s side collapsed in second half and Neville’s jibe was vindicated
Perhaps the only thing more remarkable than Liverpool’s total capitulation against Sevilla was Gary Neville’s prediction of the result with the Reds three goals up.
The former Manchester United defender simply tweeted: ‘3-3 this!’ when it had appeared that Jurgen Klopp’s side were in full control of the game.
And Neville’s prophecy was fulfilled as three second half goals from the Spanish side salvaged a point in dramatic fashion late on.
Gary Neville took to Twitter to predict Liverpool’s collapse against Sevilla
Neville did doubt his earlier call when Sevilla scored their second goal of the game to pull themselves back into the contest.
He then quipped that the score would end up 4-3 to the hosts before he went to bed.
Clearly the 42-year-old was amused by the final score upon waking up as he posted a number of ‘crying face’ emojis.
Jordan Henderson could not believe his side had managed to throw away the three goal lead
It will have rubbed salt in the wounds for Reds fans to see the ex-United right-back spot on with his prediction and the thrilling draw at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan felt more like a defeat for Klopp’s men.
Despite Neville’s divination skills, it will be the hapless defence that troubles supporters the most.
Liverpool now need to avoid defeat in their final game of the group stage to progress, and the home tie against Spartak Moscow could be a tense affair.
