A man suffered horrific burns to his crotch after his e-cigarette exploded in his pocket.
Darren Wilson, 37, from Liverpool, needed skin grafts from his backside to repair his scrotum and left leg.
Mr Wilson’s excruciating burns were made even worse by the battery acid that was flung on to his burns by the surprise explosion.

The father-of-three has been in hospital since Friday and faces another two weeks.
The device was not plugged in and was not being used when it malfunctioned.
Darren explained how he is in extreme pain and needs morphine just to go to the toilet or wash.
He said: ‘I was wearing my work pants and tried to get it out, but it burnt through and burnt all my b******s and my left leg.’
Explaining the moment the device exploded, he said: ‘I have been refurbishing my house. I was stood by the kitchen door and next thing I thought someone had thrown a firework into the doorway.

‘I looked down and my pocket was going off like a banger; it was fizzing and sparking and all smoke was coming from it.’
The gas fitting firm owner also explained that his burns needs to be re-dressed by doctors every eight hours.
Darren’s friends who were helping re-decorate his house rushed to his aide when they saw him screaming in pain with smoke billowing from his trousers.

The brought him to Aintree hospital in Liverpool before he was transferred to a specialist burns unit in Whiston Hospital.
Darren, who quit smoking six months ago, said: ‘It was like my legs were melting, burning and melting, all the way to the hospital.’
Darren’s partner, Claire Mulhearn, told the Liverpool Echo: ‘I just said to him, you’re a gas engineer, you’ve never had any problems or burns, and you get blown up by an e-cig.’
He added: ‘I have been trying to get healthy for the last six months since giving up smoking, and I have actually lost two and a half stone.
‘I started using e-cigs thinking it would be better for me, more fool me.’
