Gay porn star Blake Mitchell doubting whether he will find love

A porn star has candidly opened up about the toll his career has taken on his love life — resulting in persistent feelings of loneliness and leading him to wonder whether he will ever be able to find a partner.

Blake Mitchell, 23, from Kentucky, works as an actor and producer in the gay male adult entertainment industry. The performer also maintains a YouTube channel, on which he has 61,000 subscribers.

In a recent video titled ‘I’m lonely’, Blake, who has 181,000 followers on Instagram and 150,000 on Twitter, said some people asked whether he can truly feel lonely when he has tens of thousands of followers on social media and has found fame in his industry — a question he answered with a clear yes.

Blake, who is bisexual, said that he has found it hard to know whether people he dates are acting genuinely or whether they are only interested in him because he is well known.

He explained that he has had experiences in the past of beginning to get attached to a potential partner, only for that person to ask for a shout-out, which felt ‘very disingenuous’.

Because of his career, Blake also sometimes receives inappropriate comments, for example when he goes to night clubs and strangers end up ‘complimenting [his] d**k or a** or different body parts’.

‘That makes me uncomfortable so I know that it definitely would make my partner uncomfortable,’ he said.

Even if he finds a genuine person who can handle offensive comments from strangers, Blake said he still had to deal with the aspect of his career he finds is the hardest to manage in a relationship: his filming schedule.

‘I’m a porn star and I film porn, I film sex and I have sex with people, that’s real sex that you see on camera,’ he said.

‘It’s real sex but at the same time it’s a performance. To me, that’s my job and that’s what I do for a living, but I recognize from experience and by knowledge of how people feel about it is, what it feels like is it’s kind of like being in a one-way open relationship. Of course that’s not fair.’

Blake said his job gets even tougher to handle when he flies across the country to ‘go have sex with people and it’s going to be filmed, so you”ll probably maybe end up seeing it’.

‘When you add up all of those factors it becomes a very difficult thing to deal with,’ he added.

Some people might think they can handle all the aspects of his career, only to realize as the months go by that it wasn’t the right decision for them.

When this happens, he said, he respects their choice to walk away but finds it ‘very disheartening’.

‘It kind of contributes to this feeling of loneliness and that I maybe won’t be able to ever find a partner, as long as I’m filming at least,’ he said.

‘I still have a passion for filming porn and I’m still hopefully doing a good job at it, so it’s something I have a passion for and something I think I can still do for at least another couple of years.

‘I don’t want to give that up and regret later that I didn’t keep doing it, but I also know that I’m missing a piece of life at the same time that I could be probably having right now.

‘And that’s kind of a strangely painful thing to deal with, to realize that I’ve kind of picked this job over my personal life. It makes me sad sometimes I guess, but mostly it just contributes to that loneliness.’

Now, Blake said he believes ‘the odds are stacked against [him]’ when it comes to finding a partner who can accept his job entirely, ‘much less support [him] and encourage [him]’.

‘It’s something I’ve had to push aside and put on the back burner and turn that burner off, actually,’ he added.

As for his followers, Blake made it clear that while he enjoys their support, all their online interactions don’t translate in real life.

‘At the end of the day they’re all through here,’ he said, holding up his phone. ‘And this is just plastic metal and glass. And if I turn this off and put it down, here at night I’m just alone.

‘I think that’s when I feel the loneliness the most, when I realize at the end of the day that I’m missing out on something as a result of this job.’
