Gemma Collins postpones plans for ‘out of this world’ wedding to Rami Hawash

Gemma Collins has postponed her plans for an elaborate wedding to fiancé Rami Hawash due to the cost of living crisis.

The former TOWIE star, 41, was due to tie the knot with her businessman beau in what she called an ‘out of this world wedding, after confirming their engagement last December.

But now it seems that Gemma has had a change of heart as she told how it’s not ‘the time to be spending millions on a wedding’ with thousands of people in the country struggling with bills amid the soaring energy rates.

On hold: Gemma Collins has postponed her plans for an elaborate wedding to fiancé Rami Hawash due to the cost of living crisis

Speaking to The Mirror, the self-proclaimed diva ensured she was still getting married, but instead of splashing the cash on the big day, the nuptials may well be a quieter day.

When asked if she was still planning her wedding she said: ‘Nah, not at all. Because I just think it ain’t the time to be spending like millions on a wedding you know?’

Hinting that she may even elope with her love, she continued: ‘It’s not the time, it will happen, to be honest my life is always like I’m on the stage anyway.

‘So when I get married I’ll probably just do it in peace and quiet.’

And while the TV personality is scaling down her nuptials, she’s also cutting back on Christmas as she told the publication that it’s the ‘smallest things in life’ that mean the most to her.

Reflecting on the current climate, she added that it’s ‘really tough out there’ for people , suggesting that it’s not the value of presents that is important, but the moment it creates, adding that she’s opting for ‘sentimental gifts’ this year.

She also noted that in these ‘scary times’, she’s requested that her loved ones don’t buy her anything, staying that she doesn’t need anything as her ‘cup is full’.

It comes after Gemma detailed her plans for her ‘out of this world nuptials’ during a TV appearance in September, as she revealed she has picked a venue for the big day.

The TV star also told how she wants her lavish celebrations to resemble newly-married couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding.

She told Judi Love on The Big Breakfast of her wedding plans: ‘I finally found the venue, I’m really excited. It is going to be magical, it’s going to be everything, everyone is going to expect basically.’

She added: ‘Every time I see Jen and Ben I’m like that is me and Rami all over, so I’m going to ring J-Lo and see if she’ll lend me one of her outfits for the wedding for the evening maybe.’

Judi continued: ‘I just see you as an out there diva, a queen, I can’t imagine you having something lowkey.’

Gemma then explained: ‘Darling it isn’t going to be lowkey, I’ve got everyone around the world working on this dress, it is going to be out of this world, something that no one is going to expect.’

Love life: Elsewhere, Gemma recently revealed her plans for her 'out of this world nuptials', after getting engaged to her on-off beau Rami Hawash last December

She added that her dress was going to be all ‘Greek lace’ to tie in with the destination.

‘It is going to be unbelievable. It’s going to be whiter than white, pure white.’

Gemma wasn’t wearing her engagement ring for her TV appearance, explaining: ‘I’m going to be honest.

‘I flew back from the plane, you know when your fingers swell up in the plane, so I got in bed last night and took it off, but the ring is being upgraded so it is a bit of a secret.’
