Gemma Collins sees the funny side

She was left red-faced after tumbling feet-first through a trap door in front of horrified guests at the BBC Radio 1 Teen Award on Sunday afternoon.

But Gemma Collins was able to see the funny side as she dusted herself off following the embarrassing calamity at London’s SSE Arena, where she was on hand to deliver the award for Best TV Show to the cast of Love Island.

Taking to Instagram that evening, The Only Way Is Essex star, 36, shared a snap of herself with mic in hand, just moments before plummeting through the stage floor.

Playing the incident for laughs, Gemma incorporated the image onto a mock National Accident Helpline flyer, complete with telephone number and trademark slogan ‘Have you had an accident at work?’

Despite her appearance at the event being remembered for all the wrong reasons, the TV personality admitted there was a silver lining in the form of pop star Rita Ora, with whom she posed for a fun snap.

Sharing the image with her followers, she wrote: ‘Guys it was all worth it cause I got a selfie with RITA ORA #life goals. Off to bed now I’m in agony and need to rest.’

The reality star – who has also appeared on I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother – took to the stage to announce Love Island as the winner for Best TV Show when she was taken by surprise at the SSE Arena and fell into the hole.

Not realising that the stage beside her had dropped down, Gemma began to dance and twirl around to Ariana Grande’s Into You when she accidentally fell on top of ITV2 stars Jamie Jewitt, Amber Davies and Marcel Somerville

Proving that chivalry isn’t dead, Jamie and Marcel quickly turned towards Gemma to help her get back to her feet as the stage continued to raise up while Amber greeted the SSE Arena, demonstrating that the show must go on.

Putting on a brave face, the ITV darling reassured the 12,500 concert goers that she was OK following the nasty tumble.

She called out to packed out crowd: ‘Oh my god. Guys sorry about that. This is live, this is what happens.’

Sources claimed the pair ‘still mean a lot to each other’ and now that James is back on the series there’s plenty of opportunity for them to ‘officially reunite’.

The pair’s relationship has been tense since Gemma revealed she tried to ‘trap’ James into getting her pregnant when they had steamy sex in Marbella last year.

An episode earlier this month saw an enraged Arg, 29, still seething over Gemma’s public confession about sleeping with him, declaring to the lads that he has no interest in rekindling their relationship.

But sources claimed the cast were desperate for them to give things another go.

Dan Edgar and James ‘Diags’ Bennewith reportedly question Arg over his feelings while Chloe Sims asks Gemma if there’s any chance of a reunion.

‘The entire cast want Gemma and Arg to give their romance another go,’ a TV source told The Sun. ‘There’s a lot more opportunity for them to officially reunite now that James has re-joined the cast.

‘Speculation is rife that something between them has already gone on – with them both filming together in Ireland.

Insiders close to the show added that with the pair filming so closely on the show, their chemistry is undeniable to their co-stars.

‘They still mean a lot to each other, that is clear to everyone,’ the source said.
