George Michael’s former lover Fadi Fawaz has claimed the singer was suicidal before his death and ‘tried to stab himself 25 times’ while in rehab.
He said the star made four separate attempts on his own life, including one incident where he threw himself out of a moving car on the motorway in 2013.
In a string of emotional social media posts, Fawaz also recounted Michael’s final moments discovering his body at home on Christmas Day 2016.
He said that during their relationship Michael would regular tell him that he no longer wanted to live.

Fawaz wrote: ‘He has tried to kill himself 4 times, whilst in rehab he tried to stab himself 25 times.
‘He never told me how he did it when he was taken for three days to Marylebone.
‘I would say “aren’t you glad May 16th didn’t happen”, referring to one suicide attempt, and he would say “no”.
‘He wanted to die so badly and it was powerful to hear him say it. I think life stopped for him a long time ago.
‘Everyone wanted him because of what and who he is. ”Everyone wants me alive” is what he would say.’
Fawaz previously stated that the Wham! pop star, 53, deliberately took his own and lay dead for 24 hours before he was found.
In a string of social media posts, Fawaz also recounted Michael’s final moments discovering his body at home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire (pictured) on Christmas Day 2016
He added that the death on Christmas Eve coincided with George’s beloved late mother’s birthday.
Hairdresser Fadi said he found George’s body at home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, at around lunchtime.
Describing how he found George, he said: ‘I could see his that his right hand was up to his face with his fist clenched with his fingers curled against his cheek.
‘His face looked normal. I saw that his legs were together but looked tense under the covers. I couldn’t see any vomit. I touched him but he was cold.
‘I couldn’t tell he was dead until I saw his fingers were blue. ‘I was shaking him and saying “George, George”, but he was dead.’
Fawaz revealed how he was so against the drug GHB, a form of acid, that he initially refused to date Michael, who was a known user.
Fawaz (pictured in the days after Michael’s death) previously stated that the Wham! pop star, 53, deliberately took his own and lay dead for 24 hours before he was found
He added: ‘I was so against GHB, I used to say to him “I never want to find you dead in bed”. That was my biggest fear to find him dead in bed as a result of this drug.’
‘Every day for about 3 months whilst at the house in Highgate, I would come down in the mornings and find him passed out in the chair or on the floor near the fire with his tea.
‘This was in 2012. I told him he could never handle “G”. I questioned why he was doing it as he started falling asleep whilst we were out in public.’
A coroners report in March last year said the Faith hit-maker died of natural causes had dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
No time of death was ever set out by police or the coroner.
The results of a post mortem were never made public at the request of the family. Nor was there mention of the toxicology test results.
