Georgia Love hits back after being slammed for complaining her wedding was delayed due to COVID-19

The Bachelorette’s Georgia Love has hit back at critics who blasted her on Twitter for complaining that her wedding was delayed due to COVID-19.

Georgia, who met fiancé Lee Elliot on The Bachelor in 2016, uploaded a four-part rant on Twitter this Tuesday defending her right to grouch about her delayed nuptials.

‘Hey Twitter, you really suck sometimes,’ she began, before proceeding to describe how much she has suffered this year as a result of the bushfires and COVID-19.

‘I work in the news. I literally rang in 2020 watching people’s homes burn down,’ the newsreader began.

Georgia then reminded her fans how instrumental she has been in bringing the latest coronavirus news to Australians by reporting for 10 News First.

‘I have brought you stories of people who’ve found out their elderly loved ones have died of COVID-19 days after the fact because of our news investigations,’ she wrote.

She continued: ‘I’ve had to be the one in charge of talks with an aged [care] facility about my own grandmother because her daughter – my mother – died and I am still grieving this deeply.’

Georgia then shared her personal battles with job insecurity and emotional turmoil.

‘I may no longer have a job in my career profession that I have put my life’s work into and where my passion lies,’ she tweeted. ‘I have been unable to see my loved ones nor do the things that bring my joy for the majority of this year.’

Finishing off her rant with an almighty bang, she declared: ‘So you know what? I’m allowed to comment on the fact it’s a bit s**tty my wedding has been affected, too.

‘This does not take away from anyone else’s pain or suffering.’

Georgia’s stunning rant came a day after she revealed on Twitter that she may be forced to cancel her dream wedding for a second time this year.

Georgia and Lee had to nix their lavish Italian dream wedding due to travel restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

And now their dreams of a Tasmanian trip down the aisle appear to be in jeopardy, too.

‘So like HOW FUNNY IS IT when you cancel your Italy wedding and book it for Tasmania instead and then the Premier shuts the borders til at least December,’ Georgia shared on Twitter.

‘HAHAHAHAHA OMG SO FUNNY I’M TOTALLY FINE!!!!!’ she added.

The premier of Tasmania, Peter Gutwein, made the announcement on Tuesday, saying it allowed sufficient time for the COVID-19 situation in Victoria to be brought under control following a surge in cases of the deadly respiratory disease.

In June, the journalist told the Ben Rob & Robbo show that the couple have been forced to change the location of their wedding to Tasmania due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘We were planning on a wedding for Italy next year so in 2021,’ she said.

‘But we’ve gone back on those plans, so we figured there’s just too many “what-ifs” in the world at the moment.’

The television presenter added that even if international travel opens the couple still plan to hold their nuptials in Georgia’s home state of Tasmania instead.

‘Even if Italy is fine by then we do not want to put it on our family and friends that they have to find the money to do so in such uncertain times with people losing their jobs,’ she added.
