And now the Today show’s Georgie Gardner has weighed in on the journalist’s marriage breakdown, in The Sunday Telegraph’s Confidential.
Having announced his separation with wife of 21 years Cassandra Thorburn last September, the 46-year-old had nothing but praise for her colleague, telling the publication: ‘He has got a good heart.’

‘He has got a good heart and is in a really good place personally, and he really wants to make this work,’ Georgie said of Karl’s divorce and their new working relationship.
Karl made headlines last September with the news he had split from his wife of 21 years, Cassandra Thorburn.
The former couple share three children together, Jackson, 18, Ava, 12, and River, 10.

Following the announcement, the mother-of-two described Karl as ‘predictably unpredictable’ and a ‘larrikin’ in a chat with TV WEEK magazine.
‘Karl really is at the top of his field and while yes, he can be a larrikin, he can sometimes go too far, he can be a loose cannon, all of that, but he is also incredibly entertaining,’ she told the publication.
Georgie is reported by The Daily Telegraph to be on a salary ‘approaching the $1 million mark’ while Karl takes home at least $2 million a year.
