Germaine Greer reveals she made her vagina more ‘penetrable’ with HRT therapy

Germaine Greer has revealed she made her vagina more ‘penetrable’ aged 60 using hormone replacement therapy (HRT).

The controversial feminist, now 79, said she began HRT – a medication used to treat menopausal symptoms – when she ‘unexpectedly’ got into a relationship.

The Australian author said she decided to use it because the vagina stops ‘secreting’ in older age.

Germaine made the comments to filmmaker Clare Beavan who was filming a BBC documentary about her called Germaine B****y Greer.

Clare asked if Germaine had used HRT, to which she replied: ‘I did, but I did it my way and I wouldn’t want to tell anyone’

‘I would not advise it,’ she went on. ‘Unexpectedly, at age 60, I got involved in a relationship.’

When Clare asked why HRT would help, Germaine explained:’Because the vagina atrophies, it stops secreting. HRT doesn’t necessarily help, but it can make you more penetrable.’

It comes after Germaine sparked controversy last month when she claimed rape should not be seen as a ‘spectacularly violent crime’, and suggested that offenders should receive more lenient sentences.

Speaking at the Hay festival, Greer hinted that offenders should be given just 200 hours’ community service and the letter ‘r’ tattoo’d on their hand, arm or cheek.

‘Most rapes don’t involve any injury whatsoever. We are told it’s one of the most violent crimes in the world — bull.

‘Most rape is just lazy, just careless, just insensitive,’ she said, according to British press reports.

‘Instead of thinking of rape as a spectacularly violent crime – and some rapes are – think about it as non-consensual, that is, bad sex.’

She added: ‘Every time a man rolls over on his exhausted wife and insists on enjoying his conjugal right, he is raping her. It will never end up in a court of law.’
