A year later, the Berlin man was slapped with a 900 euro fine.

Christoph S later appealed the fine and the complaint was thrown out on Tuesday, the Berliner-Zeitung reported.

‘It is one thing if the leader of a police unit sees his colleague’s honour as being injured by a fart,’ Christoph S’s lawyer said at the appeal hearing

‘But it is quite another if prosecutors and the judiciary agree – that is a failure of the state,’ Christoph S’s lawyer said at the appeal hearing.

The appeals judge agreed and threw out the complaint against Christoph S within a matter of minutes.
