This German Shepherd has been sending social media wild with her amazing goal keeping skills.

Maggie, a two-year-old pup from New Brunswick, Canada, has shown off her ‘laser focus’ in a short clip which has now gone viral on Twitter.

Initially shared by her owner Yannick Devost, who trained her, the video sees Maggie standing in her goal keeper cage, her eyes glued to a dog-friendly black puck made of foam while Yannick throws all sorts of other balls her way.

While ignoring the other toys sent to distract her, the German Shepherd sharply leaps and catches the puck with her mouth when her owner finally hits it.

People were blown away by the short clip, with many joking Maggie should be recruited by professional teams.

She was trained to catch the puck, and only the puck

Maggie, a two-year-old pup from New Brunswick, Canada, has shown off her ‘laser focus’ in a short clip which has now gone viral on Twitter

In the clip – which has now raked 4.6million views on the social media platform – dutiful Maggie does not move an inch while she waits for Yannick to hit the puck.

Yannick tries to distract Maggie by hitting balls of all different sizes on either side of the puck. But the dog doesn’t flinch, even when a foam ball bounces on her head.

But when her owner finally hits the puck, she leaps from her post and swiftly catches it with her teeth, before running to her owner.

Speaking to CTV Atlantic News after Maggie gained traction online, Yannick said: ‘She always had great reflexes. When she was a young puppy, it was very obvious she was good at catching balls, or whatever we threw at her, she would catch and bring back.’

Taking advantage of those skills, Yannick began to train Maggie to play hockey, using basic commands to teach her how to become a dream goal-keeper.

The dog’s impressive skills earned her words of praise on Twitter, with many joking recruiters should let her play alongside professional players.
