German sides lose in Champions League and Europa League

  • All six Bundesliga sides lost in the Champions League and Europa League
  • Carlo Ancelotti was sacked as Bayern Munich after they lost 3-0 to PSG
  • Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig also were beaten in the Champions League
  • Hoffenheim, Cologne and Hertha Berlin lost in the Europa League

Carlo Ancelotti was sacked as manager of Bayern Munich on Thursday following his side’s embarrassing defeat by Paris Saint-Germain.

But Bayern weren’t the only side to be dismissed in the latest rounds of matches in the group stages of the Champions League and Europa League.

Dani Alves, Edinson Cavani and Neymar all scored as PSG beat Bayern on Wednesday night but the misery for all six of the sides from the Bundesliga had already begun 24 hours earlier.

Borussia Dortmund were expected to put up a better fight than they did against Real Madrid.

But Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo made sure of the points as the Spanish giants won 3-1 in Dortmund.

RB Leipzig also fell on the same night away in Turkey as they lost 2-0 to Besiktas.

Three remaining German sides had a chance to make up for the defeats of the four others on Thursday night in the Europa League.

It didn’t get any better, however, as Hoffenheim lost 2-1 away to Ludogorets, Cologne were beat at home to FK Crvena and Hertha Berlin went down 1-0 at Ostersunds of Sweden.
