Emotional Gethin Jones wipes away tears as he raises over £1million for Comic Relief in 24-hour danceathon

Gethin Jones is a Welsh TV presenter who took part in Strictly Come Dancing 16 years ago.

And on Friday, an emotional Gethin, 45, wiped away tears as he was told he’d raised over £1million for Comic Relief thanks to his 24-hour danceathon.

The BBC Morning Live host boogied his way through the night – while dressed in various costumes, including as Pixar’s Mr. Incredible – in a bid to raise funds, which continue to climb.

Gethin was joined on the daytime show by his co-stars Kimberley Walsh and Helen Skelton live on air for the final countdown to completing his charity danceathon.

Golden confetti rained down on them after the ticker ran down, and he told viewers: ‘This celebration sums it up. All the messages overnight have been phenomenal.

‘I can’t quite believe what we’ve raised for Comic Relief!’ admitted the veteran TV host.

Choking up, Gethin began to cry as he gushed: ‘It’s going to change lives. It’s going to save lives. I’ve said it all along, I’m so proud.’

The Cardiff-born presenter – who has just been announced as an ambassador for GO Outdoors – was surrounded by co-workers who cheered on his impressive achievement.

Gethin then collapsed onto the floor after completing his physically exhausting 24-hour danceathon.
