Gigi Hadid looks downcast as she steps out in New York after being targeted by anti-fur protest

She was set upon by bellowing anti-fur protesters at a meet-and-greet Thursday.

And Gigi Hadid looked faintly downcast when she was pap-snapped the following day strolling through New York City.

Minimizing on makeup, the 23-year-old supermodel went for a subdued outfit that consisted of a black hooded crop top and matching sweats.

Her trousers were hemmed around mid-calf, allowing a full view of her black high-top sneakers as she pounded the pavement.

She accessorized with a black leather pebble grain handbag, as well as glinting hoop earrings and a bronze-tinted pair of sunglasses.

The Los Angeles native gathered her hair into the same do she wore when she ran into her awkward situation the day prior.

Gigi, who has stepped out rocking fur on several occasions, was the center of an anti-fur protest on Thursday.

The 23-year-old model was in the middle of her Tommy Hilfiger meet-and-greet when protesters interrupted it with signs that read ‘Gigi kills,’ ‘animal abuser’ and ‘fur scum.’

It started when one of the anti-fur protesters, who had her sign hidden, was seen going up to the supermodel and getting a hug.

As Gigi autographed a picture, the woman rolled out her sign, with several other people joining in.

The older sister of Bella Hadid looked up but didn’t say anything as security and members of her team swooped in and took the signs.

The women were then escorted out of the event, which took place at the Macy’s in Herald Square.

Gigi was then seen leaving the autograph session early with her bodyguard in tow after the fur protest.

Interestingly enough, Tommy Hilfiger went fur-free in 2007.

Gigi has been working with the iconic brand designing collections since 2016 – the hugely successful Tommy X Gigi line.

Before the protesters arrival, the blonde cat walker posed up a storm in her trendy Tommy X Gigi look from season four.

She flaunted her figure in a cut-out bodysuit with skintight bottoms, adding a coordinating jacket.

The race car driver themed collection is already available on Tommy Hilfiger’s website.

The meet and greet was the last stop on the Tommy X Gigi Together Tour; Tommy Hilfiger announced the surprise autograph session just hours before on Instagram.

While Gigi has been seen rocking fur coats and accessories on many occasions, she has also donned faux fur pieces in the past as well.

This year has been pivotal in the anti-fur community with powerful design houses like Gucci, Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, Versace announcing they are ditching fur.

They join labels like Stella McCartney (who has been fur free since it launched in 2011), Vivienne Westwood, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Armani and Hugo Boss.
