Gina Rodriguez had a health scare backstage at The Talk on Tuesday amid a severe allergy to blueberries.
The Jane the Virgin star, 34, accidentally consumed a blueberry – which she’s ‘deathly allergic to’ – prior to her appearance on the CBS program.
The Talk’s Sara Gilbert brought up the incident, telling Rodriguez at the outset of her appearance, ‘We just want to start out asking if you are OK, because you had a health incident backstage.’

The Smallfoot entertainer said she went to the show on an empty stomach, leading to the lapse.
‘The problem with me is when you offer free food – I eat it – like every time, without fail,’ the Deepwater Horizon star said. ‘I was so hungry this morning … and there was just food displayed and I just starting maxing and I was like, “I definitely ate a blueberry, definitely, definitely that tasted like a blueberry.”‘
The actress said she’s ‘deathly allergic to blueberries,’ and was swiftly placed under the care of a nurse the show sent to tend to her.
‘I took allergy medicine, so if I’m a little loopy, don’t blame me, blame the meds,’ said the actress, who announced her engagement to her boyfriend Joe LoCicero last month.

Rodriguez made clear she was fine in the wake of the dangerous course of events.
‘We’re good, we’re good,’ she said. ‘No hives!’
Rodriguez has past opened up about her battle with Hashimoto’s disease, which has symptoms that impact a person’s weight, energy and memory.
She told Health in 2016 that she combats the condition with activities such as ‘running, boxing, jump rope, and hitting the heavy bag,’ and stays gluten-free, which she called ‘the most difficult thing in the world.’
Rodriguez provides the voice of Kolka in the animated movie Smallfoot, which hits theaters Friday.
