An 18-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a teenage boy was stabbed to death in Coventry last night.

The victim, also 18, died after what police termed a ‘domestic incident’ and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with it.

It was unclear this morning what relationship if any there was between the victim and the woman arrested.

Detective Inspector Hannah Whitehouse, from Coventry police homicide team, said: ‘This is a tragic loss of a young man’s life.

‘An investigation is underway and a forensic examination of the scene is currently taking place as we try to establish what happened.

‘I’d urge anyone with any information to contact us as soon as they can.’

West Midlands Police added: ‘Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man sadly lost his life last night in Coventry.

‘We were called to reports of an injured man taken to hospital at around 10:10pm. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of medical staff he later died.

‘The 18-year-old is thought to have been stabbed shortly before on Middle Ride in the Willenhall area of the city.

‘An 18-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder not long after and is currently in custody.

‘The incident is thought to be domestic related and we’re not looking for anyone else at this stage.’
