Girl opens first bottle of champagne and it’s a disaster

Having just turned 21, American business student Lindsey Bolland was all set to celebrate becoming legal drinking age with her first bottle of bubbly.

She ran into some problems.

Video captured outside of the University Arizona, where Ms Bolland is thought to be a student, shows the moment the excited birthday girl gets ready to ping the cork from the bottle.

This task she manages to do without any problems but then things go slightly downhill.

Unleashing the cork error free, foam begins pouring out of the bottle’s neck, landing straight onto her phone.

Ms Bolland rushes to stop the spillage and save her phone but inadvertently loses her footing while doing so.

Losing control of her balance, Ms Bolland falls forward through the air, disappearing at the foot of the bed while making sure to keep the bottle of champagne safe by raising it above her head.

She then meets the ground with a tremendous thud.

Angelina Theodores, who filmed the moment, is heard howling in the background as she races to check on her friend who is found in a heap on the floor surrounded by a puddle of bubbly.

Proclaiming this to be ‘the greatest day of her life’, Ms Theodores said: ‘We re-watched the video back about 10 times and it seemed to get funnier each time we played it.

‘Hands down the funniest college experience I’ve witnessed.’

Ms Theodores explained that everyone at their college calls her and Ms Bolland ‘Dumb and Dumber’.

She said: ‘We have so many funny mistakes and stories from college but nothing compares to this one.

‘Thankfully Lindsey didn’t hurt herself and found it just as funny as I did.

‘We went out the next night and Lindsey bought a screw-top bottle of champagne instead, she didn’t trust herself with another cork.’
