A young girl was left in tears when she and her sister were surprised by their parents with a puppy.

Emery Wetzel, six, from Georgia in the US, gets very emotional when their mum, Ashley Barnes, breaks the news to her and her sister Whitley, four, that the dog that has greeted them outside their school was now part of the family.

Ashley, 35, said: ‘For a couple of years now the girls have been wanting a dog.

Dream come true: Emery Wetzel, six, is shocked when her mother tells her the dog now belongs to her and her sister

‘I told them the only way we could have an inside dog is if it was completely potty trained and they have always wanted a Weiner dog.

‘All week I told them I had a surprise for them but wouldn’t tell them what it was.

‘I knew they were going to be happy about it so I started recording it, I had to try really hard not to cry myself after seeing how happy they were.

‘I sent the video to my husband, Caleb, and he called me and said the video made him tear up.’

Buckley’s previous owner could not give him the time he needed but wanted him to go to a loving home and was put in touch with the family through a mutual friend.

He was picked up by Ashley and taken straight to school to meet the girls.

She said: ‘Whitley loves to play with him by putting him in her pink stroller and pushing him around.

‘After I stopped filming Emery slowly stopped crying and when we got in the car they hugged me so hard and said thank you a million times.

‘We have now had Buckley for about a month and he has settled in very well. He is so spoiled by our whole family.’
