Girlfriend of bikie associate killed by police claims police did not switch on body cameras

The girlfriend of a bikie associate who was shot dead by police has claimed that officers failed to switch on their body cameras before killing him.

Liam Scorsese, 31, was trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Wakerly, Brisbane in February.

When police arrived, he reportedly lunged at them with a knife and screamed ‘shoot me’ before officers ‘in fear of their lives’ tasered him and then shot him twice.

Now his girlfriend, who can’t be named for legal reasons, has complained about the killing in a furious Facebook post seen by Daily Mail Australia.

She wrote: ‘Can’t believe I’m writing this but feel people should know just how much the system has once again failed Liam.

‘We have now been told that the body cam footage is suddenly none (sic) existent, apparently wasn’t switch (sic) on while police were attending the scene and shot Liam.

‘We have been led to believe this whole time that this wasn’t the case and that the footage will finally give us answers and clarity as to why this happened.’

She signed off the expletive-ridden post: ‘I’m so sorry Liam, you are supposed to be at peace but no doubt you would be appalled by this as we all are. This is not right, I’m shattered, I’m angry.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Queensland Police for comment.

Comanchero associate Scorsese was tasered by officers just before 10am after allegedly lunging at police while holding a knife.

He was then shot twice – once in the neck – when he did not respond to the shock.

Witnesses claim Scorsese had screamed ‘shoot me’ to as the officers retreated 60 metres after he was caught trying to break into his ex-girlfriend’s home.

It is not clear if the pair had rekindled their relationship.

Friends took to social media to share their devastation at the news of his death.

One friend said her pain was ‘unbearable’ and suffering ‘unimaginable’.

‘Four years wasn’t enough, it wasn’t the lifetime you promised me or yourself, now your’re gone. May you fly with the angels, I will never let go bub I will never let go,’ she wrote.

One old friend fondly recalled starting high school with Scorsese, and being kicked out of the school together, and said he was ‘angry and devastated’ to hear of the man’s death.

Another shared a photo of himself, simply writing ‘R.I.P Liam.’ The photo was used by a female friend an hour later, who described herself as ‘shattered’ and claimed he had always been a gentleman to her.

Defence lawyer Ashkan Tai shared a photo of himself with the 31-year-old and remembered him as respectful and gentlemanly.

‘RIP Liam Scorsese. A life taken far too early,’ he wrote.
