Girls Aloud have defied the odds and decided to reform, according to reports.
The pop group – who have, since their split in 2013, been mired by rumours of acrimony – are said to be reforming to mark their forthcoming 20th anniversary.
According to The Sun, the reformation is the brainchild of Cheryl, who came up with the idea and approached good friends Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts about it.

Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding have now reportedly been approached about getting back together, and the wheels are supposedly in motion for a full reunion.
The news comes as Nadine, 32, cancelled a series of forthcoming solo gigs last week. Both Cheryl, 34, and Sarah, 36, are busy recording solo material.
Yet the reunion tour is allegedly on the cards, as the girls are said to be keen to get things planned ahead of the band’s 20th anniversary [which is technically not until 2022]. MailOnline has contacted Girls Aloud representatives for comment.
The group were formed in 2002 on ITV show Popstars: The Rivals before splitting in 2013 but now all five members are believed to be in contact for the first time in years.

Nadine’s recent gig cancellations came with a statement, which read: ‘I am so sad to say I’m not able to do the tour at this time. I am so sorry and really wish things were different, but for many reasons it is not meant to be.
‘You deserve the best show possible and with such big venues and very little dates it was becoming impossible to achieve what we had wanted to do. Everything is a lesson and this is definitely one for me. Thank you for your continued love and support!’
Nadine previously claimed Girls Aloud split up because her bandmates were jealous of her.
She said: ‘It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band. It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.

‘It made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that. It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.
‘That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was. We’re all very, very different characters.’
When the band officially called it quits in 2013, they posted a statement to social media which said: ‘Your love and support will stay with us for ever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together.’
Belting it out: The ladies were reunited for their evening out to celebrate their friend’s birthday
And reunion hopes were constantly dashed by the girls, with Kimberley recently saying: ‘The band’s over — in my head, at least. For Nadine, the last years were a job. She just came back from America to work, which was fine.
‘But I don’t think anyone wants to get together now. We were young girls when we got in the band and now we are women.’
She met up with Nicola and Cheryl on Thursday as they headed out with friends for their pal Beth Horan’s birthday in Knightsbridge’s Mr Chow restaurant.

While Cheryl was typically quiet on social media, Nicola and Kimberley were both sharing clips from the evening where they watched the chef in action.
Sitting around the table, the Geordie native, who shares one-year-old son Bear with boyfriend Liam Payne, looked radiant as she sported a cherry coloured camisole and let her long brunette locks cascade over her shoulders.
Nicola looked stunning as she showed off her trademark alabaster complexion with her flame red tresses pulled back and a heavy fringe.
Kimberley cut a chic figure in a high-necked black top while she wore her blonde locks tumbling over her shoulders and falling from a centre parting.

Joining the girls on the high out was Lily England, Cheryl’s good pal and blogger.
It was recently revealed the brunette beauty will make a welcome return to the Cannes Film Festival as L’Oreal ambassador when the annual celebration of international cinema launches on the French Riviera in May.
The singer’s reappearance was confirmed on Thursday afternoon and comes 12-months after she pulled out of her annual commitment on behalf of the French cosmetics giant following the birth of son Bear.
A source told MailOnline: ‘Yes, she is. She’ll be attending for L’Oreal.’
Glam: A source told MailOnline at the time: ‘Cheryl only gave birth last month so understandably it is too soon for her to return to work’
Cheryl pulled out in 2017 after giving birth to son Bear, her first child with One Direction star Liam, three months before the event got underway.
The singer had claimed it was ‘too soon’ for her to think about leaving the country for work purposes when she has a newborn baby boy at home.
A source told MailOnline at the time: ‘Cheryl only gave birth last month so understandably it is too soon for her to return to work.
‘Cheryl has always attended Cannes with L’Oreal Paris in her role as spokesmodel but there is no way she is going to leave the country with a new born baby. L’Oreal Paris are incredibly supportive of her decision.’

A spokesperson for L’Oreal Paris added: ‘Having only given birth less than one month ago, Cheryl will not be attending Cannes Film Festival 2017 with L’Oreal Paris.’
As the hitmaker will be attending Cannes, it means she won’t be making her musical comeback on Britain’s Got Talent this year, according to The Sun.
Fans had been wishing that would see a return of Cheryl on the BGT stage, yet sources close to the pop star have insisted: ‘Cheryl performing on the show isn’t something being lined up for this year.’
