‘From what I am aware he has locked himself in the house and is refusing to come out,’ local resident Richard Ramage told NZ Herald.

A man and his partner were allegedly shot at after making too much noise in their flat on Wednesday morning, the sister of the man told Stuff.

As the couple were laughing, the shooter allegedly told the couple to quiet down before he pulled out a shotgun.

‘Everyone is shaken but no one is hurt,’ the sister said.

The couple are believed to have not known the man or to have lived near him – a witness said the man had come from the direction of the primary school.

Glen Eden Primary School and Kids Early Learning Centre has since lifted its lockdown.

Talented Tots Childcare have kept the emergency measure in place as teachers keep students away from the windows.

Part of West Coast Road, between Glendale Road and Swan Hill Drive, remain cordoned off and Auckland Transport has advised drivers to avoid the area.

‘Please avoid this area or allow extra time for diversions,’ Auckland Transport said.

New Zealand schools have remained on high alert following the mass shooting at two Christchurch mosques on March 15.
