Glenn Beck storms out of combative interview after CNN’s Brian Stelter asks about his company

Right-wing pundit Glenn Beck walked out of an interview with Brian Stelter after the CNN presenter asked him about the future of his company.

The CEO of conservative news and entertainment site TheBlaze, refused to answer questions about reports which said the group was about to make further layoffs.

In a combative interview on the CNN show Reliable Sources, Stelter clashed with Beck about the media’s role in covering the Trump administration.

But Beck, 54, ended the exchange when he was asked whether his company was ‘in trouble’ and trying to find a buyer, as the Daily Beast had reported.

Stelter said: ‘I do have to ask you, there’s this new headline on the Daily Beast saying that your companies in trouble, that you were trying to find a buyer. What’s going on with that?’

Beck paused for a moment and said: ‘Wow. Brian, thanks a lot.’

He continued: ‘I think that’s the most ridiculous question I’ve ever heard.

‘I’m sitting here ready to talk to you about the detaining of children and parents and trying to break families apart. We want to stop it and you want to play those games?’

Getting out of his chair he said: ‘Have a nice day’, leaving Stelter to retort: ‘What game did I just play?’

With his interviewee gone he told viewers: ‘So the question on the Daily Beast website, the headline says Glenn Beck’s media empire is imploding again.

‘Frankly I thought Glenn deserved a chance to address those reports. I hope he’ll come back and talk about it.’

Earlier Beck had accused CNN of ‘dividing the country’, focusing on ratings and failing to understand its lack of appeal to Trump voters.

They began the interview talking about children being separated from their parents but soon went off on a tangent about the media’s coverage of Trump.

After the exchange he took to Twitter to argue that the row over separation of children would have been reported differently under the Obama administration.

He said: ‘I couldn’t take anymore of it on CNN and Reliable Sources. But I will lay the problem and solutions out for you on radio tomorrow.’

In April the Daily Beast reported that Beck was selling his private aircraft, which he bought for $1million in 2015, for an undisclosed price.
