More than 3,000 people have registered complaints on downdetector.com.au – a website that tracks where there are outages – just after 1 pm on Wednesday.

Google also revealed a map showing outages throughout North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe. Google acknowledged the issue at 1.53 pm and reported ‘error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior’.

At this point, it is not clear what caused the outage. The company posted an update at 3.44 pm acknowledging the outage and have told customers they are working to rectifying the issue. ‘Users will have issues accessing or attaching files in various products.’

Google has not yet addressed the issue but some users have reported that some services are being restored.
