Gogglebox stars Adam and Symon respond to rumours Zoë and Hamish Blake were paid $500,000

Rich-list couple Hamish and Zoë Foster Blake were reportedly paid a whopping $500,000 to appear on Celebrity Gogglebox.

And Gogglebox favourites Adam Densten and Symon Lovett have responded to the salary rumours, saying it doesn’t bother them that celebrities are paid considerably more than the families on the ‘civilian’ version, most of whom still work 9-5 jobs.

The best friends told TV Tonight the Blakes and other stars from Celebrity Gogglebox have worked hard in the entertainment industry for years and earned the right to demand big paychecks.

‘All of these people have done 10 or 20 years in the media industry. We’ve literally sat on the couch for seven or eight years,’ Adam said. 

‘I actually quite like seeing their houses to be honest!’ he added. 

‘Them getting paid [more] doesn’t really affect my life.’

In March, it was reported that the cast of Gogglebox Australia were up in arms after learning about how much Hamish and Zoë Foster Blake were allegedly paid for their brief stint on the show.  

Comedian Hamish, 40, and his skincare entrepreneur wife Zoë, 41, starred in a one-off episode of Channel 10 spinoff show Celebrity Gogglebox last month, with reports the couple pocketed $500,000 for their appearance.

In contrast, the original Goggleboxers are said to earn a meagre $1,200 ‘location fee’ per house for each day of filming instead.

‘Hamish and Zoë have apparently landed a pay cheque that is simply unfair in the eyes of the entire cast – mostly the families who have been there since the start and get paid far less,’ a cast member said at the time.

‘You can’t pay one person half a million dollars and then someone else $1,200 – I don’t care who you are,’ they fumed. 

Hamish and Zoë’s pay check saga reportedly reignited a long-running disagreement between cast and producers over how much the original Goggleboxers are paid.
