A run down housing commission residence rented out for the Commonwealth Games on Airbnb doubled as a creepy religious shack where exorcisms and loud yelling took place, according to neighbours.
Residents are outraged with the grandmother who has lived in the home for 20 years with a grandson and have filed a complaint with the electorate office of Mudgeeraba MP Ros Bates.
According to complaints ‘strange religious rituals’ had been conducted in the home in the past ‘including exorcisms with very loud yelling,’ the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

The public housing tenant also went camping so she could rent out her taxpayer-funded home to make a quick buck out of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Queensland Parliament was told.
The grandmother rented out the Gold Coast hinterland house at Mudgeeraba on AirBnB for about $100 a night but had been rented for $500 for three nights before a less than impressed guest left a scathing review.

‘This is a dilapidated cockroach and grease laden ramshackle home that fair enough someone may want to live in, but in truth how it can be placed out for let is unfathomable,’ the reviewer’s post said.
The guest said they had to buy their own sheets because the ones supplied were ‘marked with god only knows what’ and the key they were given didn’t work.
‘The smell from the fridge alone nearly killed us,’ the guest wrote.
‘This place needs fumigating and then demolition. It is not fit for letting out.’

The Liberal National Party member for Mudgeeraba, Ros Bates, raised the matter in the Queensland Parliament on Wednesday, directing her question to Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
‘Premier, why did the government allow a Housing Commission tenant in Mudgeeraba to use Airbnb to rent out a government-funded property for $100 per night during the Commonwealth Games?,’ she said.
The LNP Opposition frontbencher revealed the woman in her electorate had lived in the Mudgeeraba property for 20 years.
‘The system is there to ensure our most disadvantaged Queenslanders have a roof over their heads, not to make cash on the side,’ Ms Bates said.
The tenant, described as a battler, pitched a tent for the nights in New South Wales while her home accommodated others.
The listing was reportedly advertised on home-sharing site Airbnb for $500 for three nights
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said an investigation would take place into how the public housing property was able to be sub-let because it was ‘a breach of the tenancy rules’.
An Airbnb spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia it was up to the guests and hosts to make sure they follow local regulations.
‘Hosts should think carefully about their responsibilities and ensure they are in compliance with all local rules and regulations,’ they said.
