The wild Schoolies’ drug trend that every parent needs to know about – as school leavers expose what’s really happening at the end of year celebration
- Schoolies have rejected the offer of free drugs while partying on the Gold Coast
- Offered drugs everywhere they go from their hotels and clubs to the streets
- Police praised behaviour of 18,000 Schoolies during week one of celebrations
- Hundreds of school leavers from Victoria and NSW have arrived for second week
Schoolies have claimed they are being offered free drugs on the streets and at the nightly beach parties on the Gold Coast.
Thousands of school leavers have converged on Surfers Paradise for the biggest Schoolies celebration on the glitter party strip since pre-Covid 2019.
While Schoolies’ TikTok videos showing off copious amounts of empty booze bottles in hotel rooms may concern some parents, the free drug trend is concerning.
‘Some bloke came up to me and said ‘do you want some ‘caps,’ one school leaver told Seven News.

‘He looked pretty hammered. He’s handed them to me and I’ve just hung onto them until the end of the night and then threw them out.’
His friend added: ‘No, no drugs for me. Not at all.’
One group claimed drugs were offered everywhere, including at least twice in a few days at the beach party.
‘Anywhere from the hotel to the clubs, the street, the bathrooms and the beach party,’ they said.
Queensland Police said they hadn’t received any reports about drugs inside the official Schoolies beach precinct.
Police and local business owners said this year’s Schoolies were generally well behaved compared to previous years as celebrations enter a second week.
Police made 165 arrests during the first week of celebrations, where less than a third were Schoolies.

Hand-held metal detecting wands scanned 918 revellers which resulted in 32 arrests, mostly for bail offences and drug possession.
More than 25,000 Schoolies will descend on the Gold Coast alone this year during the three week celebrations.
Around 18,000 school leavers attended the Surfers Paradise hub in week one with the vast majority from Queensland.
The party hub welcomed its second batch of school leavers from NSW and Victoria on the weekend.
The focus of police this week will be on pubs and clubs, as most interstate schoolies aged over-18.
‘[Police will be] identifying those who are intoxicated, maybe coming out of accommodation doing the pre-loading,’ acting chief superintendent Rhys Wildman said.
‘So we can do that early intervention and prevent them from actually coming to harm themselves or creating issues in the precinct.’

Meanwhile, the first group showed off a week’s worth of celebrations.
On TikTok video shows a kitchen bench in a hotel room covered in empty beer cans, bottles of bourbon, Vodka Cruisers and even vapes.
Earlier in the week, a vile schoolies checklist aimed at teenage partygoers emerged online causing outrage and worry amongst parents.
It outlined 10 challenges for boys attending, including a variety of explicit sex acts, sexual assault and drug use.
The first item on his list is to ‘do a line on a chicks ass’. Doing a line is a reference to snorting cocaine or amphetamines.
Thousands of other school leavers have headed to Byron Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Airlie Beach and Lorne and even further afield to Fiji and Bali.
