She shocked fans last month with her abrupt resignation from SBS after nearly four decades at the network.
And amid reports she’s central in a bidding war between rival networks, Ten and Seven, Lee Lin Chin said she was jetting out to her native Singapore on Thursday to escape the circulating rumours.
Revealing her travel plans on Twitter, the fashion forward newsreader also cracked a joke about the paparazzi in her typically humourous manner.

She wrote: ‘Goodbye Australia I shall be spending the next month in Singapore. Try and catch me now Paparazzi! Seriously, try it. I will end you.’
The small-screen icon also took the opportunity to make a joke about her celebrity status.
‘In Singapore I can do whatever I like,’ she remarked. ‘I’m a native who became a celebrity to white people,’ before adding, ‘I’m essentially above the law.’

Prior to her alleged departure, reports suggested Ten and Seven are locked in a bidding war to snap up Ms Chin.
And the former is allegedly eyeing the TV icon for The Project, with industry insiders claiming she would be a natural fit for the format.
‘Her popularity with the younger demographic would be something Ten would be keen to capitalise on,’ the source told Confidential in July.

The claim was given further credence last week when she told Ten Daily that she would be ‘happy’ to move to the network.
‘I’d like to point out that, once a newsreader, always a newsreader,’ she said. ‘I would be very happy to read the news on a casual basis in the future if someone were willing to have me…I’m sure i could give Ten a ratings boost.’
However, it seems it is not just Ten that could be eyeing off Lee Lin’s talents with an insider from Channel Seven telling the publication the network has already made inquiries as to her interest.

‘We have reached out to her through her management and have told her we would be open to discussions about a role,’ the insider said.
They added: ‘she would be a great addition to any network. Lee Lin is so well-liked and can cross so many different fields. Wherever she ends up she will be a huge asset.’
