Google releases interactive Avengers: Endgame Easter egg that shows up when you search ‘Thanos’

  • ‘Avengers’ villain Thanos is out for your search results in a new Google promotion
  • By searching ‘Thanos’ users are presented with an Infinity Gauntlet icon
  • One click will make your results befall a similar fate to heroes in the franchise
  • The gimmick is promoting ‘Avengers: Endgame’ out everywhere today

It turns out even Google can’t outrun the powers of the Avengers’ biggest and baddest of villain.

In a promotional ‘Easter egg,’ Google has included a very significant mythical item in users’ search results for the ‘Avengers’ franchise’s extra-terrestrial bad guy, Thanos.

In addition to related pictures and web results, searchers will see an unusual icon in the midst — that would be the Infinity Gauntlet.

Just a click will send your search results down the same path as some heroes in the ‘Avengers’ last installment.

While fans of the ‘Avengers’ franchise have seen the powerful item deployed to devastating results in the penultimate ‘Avengers’ installment, Infinity Wars (spoiler alert for those who haven’t watched the movie yet), no one has seen what the gauntlet can do to your web browser.

With just a click, the Infinity Gauntlet jumps to life, disintegrating results in your browser with an ease all too familiar for fans who watched some of their favorite heroes reduced to air.

Those who haven’t seen any of the ‘Avengers’ may notice the animated effects from a slew of memes inspired by Infinity Wars that flooded social media after its release.

The addition of the Infinity Gauntlet into Google searchers coincides with the release of the ‘Avengers’ newest and supposedly the last ‘Avengers’ installment, the aptly named, ‘Endgame’ which comes out on April 26.

Google has been known to spice up its search engine and other products for special causes in the past, embedding animations to its logos and for April Fool’s going above and beyond.

This year on April 1, Google added to its rich history of gags by ‘launching’ a fake product that is designed to talk to plants and including a snake game in Google Maps.

Endgame has already promised to be the most explosive of all the ‘Avengers” movies, both for fans of the franchise and for studios.

Already, the movie has broken a record for the name of preview ticket sales, raking in $60 million on Thursday night and eclipsing the former record holder, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ by $2 million according to USA Today.

Thanos is the ultimate villain in the 'Avengers' franchise and is now wreaking havoc on the world's most powerful search engine.
