- The last update for the original Pixel and Pixel XL was supposed to be October
- The final security update will be released in December
The final round of security updates for Google’s first generation of Pixel phones will be released in December.
The original Pixels and Pixel XLs weren’t included in Google’s November round of security updates.
The company later confirmed it will include fixes from the November update in the December security download, which is planned to be the final official security update for first-generation phones.

The original Pixel and Pixel XL were released on October 20, 2016, and Google promised they would get two years of Android system updates and three years of supported security updates.
Many had expected the October security update to be the last, but Google is going two months beyond the original time frame to help keep owners of the original Pixel secure, according to a report from The Verge.
Google had also previously said it would stop releasing supported Android updates for first generation Pixels after Android Pie, but in March the company said it would extend support through Android Q.

Last month, Google announces the newest models in the Pixel range with the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL.
Those models start at $799 and $899 respectively and feature Google’s flashy new motion control technology, which uses radar to detect hand waves that let people operate their phone without ever touching it.
