The shark appears to thrash around for a few seconds while Chandler runs towards his dad.

Chandler wasn’t injured during the ordeal, and according to his dad, they had no idea that it was a shark until they reviewed the footage from their GoPro, which was attached to Chandler’s board.

‘We surfed for another half hour after that,’ Shaun told The New York Post.

Shaun said they both thought it was some kind of fish that had jumped out of the water.

‘He said he saw a fish, and I guess that startled him,’ Shaun said. But even after he told Chandler that a shark had breached the water, Shaun says ‘it didn’t phase him at all’.

‘He’s a little daredevil,’ Shaun added.

Shaun said they believe the shark was a blacktip, a type of shark that is commonly seen off the coast of Central Florida.

While not the largest of sharks, they do make up 20 percent of all unprovoked shark attacks in America, which is still a relatively small number.

Experts say that blacktip sharks don’t target people deliberately, but they will sometimes accidentally bite people because they are chasing schools of fish.
