When asked which of her former co-hosts she still keeps in touch with, she said that she’s on good terms with everyone.

‘The week after I decided to leave, Lisa Wilkinson was straight on the phone to me,’ she said.

‘Peter Helliar was straight on the phone concerned about what I was doing. I always talk to Waleed [Aly]. He and his wife Susan [Carland] are both very dear friends to me,’ she continued.

‘We haven’t been able to catch up because of lockdown but sometimes it’s just a cheeky text. They’re just really lovely, decent people.’

Despite being busy with her hotel, Gorgi hasn’t completely given up on showbiz yet and has plans to pursue a career as a singer.

‘It beats broadcasting for me; singing is my absolute number one. When I sing, I’m just transported to another place in time,’ she gushed.

‘Singing for me would be my biggest thing on my vision board and the biggest thing that I talk about with my manager.’

Gorgi announced her departure from The Project back in July.

‘It hasn’t been an easy decision but after 10 YEARS on this wonderful show I feel that it’s time. I really love broadcasting and I’ve missed it this year.’

The Victorian-born reporter went on to say that she’s always known when the time was right to ‘leap into the unknown’ and ‘discover new adventures’.
