This cheeky monkey caught the attention of zoo visitors after he was caught shoving several carrots in his mouth in a big to keep them from his fellow primates. 

Western lowland gorilla Kiondo was pictured hoarding the orange root vegetables after they were thrown to him and his mates by keepers at Paignton Zoo in Devon.

He then launched into an impressive display to make sure what he kept all the treats to himself, sprinting off to another corner of the enclosure.

An eyewitness said: ‘A keeper had thrown some food across to their island.

‘After picking up some carrots Kiondo didn’t want the other gorillas N’Dowe and Kivu to have them so he put them in his mouth for safe keeping before displaying his impressive chest beat.

‘This is normally a display of dominance although he is not currently in charge of the troop of gorillas.’
